Expertise and Experience

Opinions, appeals, trials for invalidation, suits against JPO decisions, assisting in infringement litigation and filing and prosecution for patent, design, and trademark applications for domestic and non-domestic clients.

Mr. Yanagi has experiences in obtaining patent and design rights in a wide range of mechanical and electrical technologies, including vibration reduction products for vehicle and other products, vehicle tires, rechargeable batteries, medical devices, plasma etching machines, marine hoses (i.e., huge rubber hoses), vending machines, LED devices, showcases, product lines, business methods, software-related inventions. By directly applying his in-depth mechanical engineering knowledge and expertise, Mr. Yanagi provides clients with advice in patent invalidation and infringement matters.

After graduating from Saitama University, Mr. Yanagi spent seven years working as an engineer for a private company in the automotive industry. This career provided him with a wide range of technical experience, particularly concerning mechanical vibration analysis, research and development of rubber and other elastic materials, and manufacturing molded parts for automobiles. In 2005, Mr. Yanagi qualified as a Patent Attorney before the JPO and Intellectual Property High Court, and five years later, qualified as a Litigation Attorney on specific IP Infringement matters before Japanese courts.
